FAQs - Privacy

Have a Question?  Chances are, you’ll find the answer you are looking for here:

Q: Does 3PMobile ever see my users’ data?

A: 3PMobile is software, not a service, “mediator” or transcoding engine. We never see, intercept or forward your data. Your data privacy policies are between you and your mobile users.

Q: What data comes standard with your application?

A: 3PMobile™ Free Trial: The following data, if it is available from the device, is transmitted by the demo application. The mobile user determines what data and with which Web sites they will share their data. Data is not encrypted.

Location Data Device Data User-Entered Data
Current Latitude & Longitude Browser Canvas Size Name
Previous Latitude & Longitude Screen Resolution & Colors Email Address
Altitude Device & Operating System Zip Code
Cell Tower ID & Signal level Carrier Custom Data Fields

3PMobile™ Software: Every business is different, so you determine what information you need to deliver to your Web applications. We simply provide the transport mechanism to get it there.

The standard configuration of 3PMobile accesses a few types of basic device data such as device type, OS and screen properties for troubleshooting purposes only. NO personally identifying data (PID) or location data is ever transmitted. The diagnostic data may be used to confirm successful installation or when you or your support partner needs to troubleshoot service problems.

Q: Can I be sure no one else sees my mobile users’ data?

A: All 3PMobileclients and servers are paired to a fully qualified URL that front-ends your Web application. Data from your user’s client-side mobile application cannot be sent to another company’s Web site. All data is encrypted during transport.  The free trial version has a user-entered URL whitelist to restrict where the data is sent.  This version does not include encryption, unless you are using the Android version to support the 3PMobile Performance Measurement Service.  This is a fully functioning Web app, just as you might build for your own organization.  Since we are sending login and location data, we utilize encryption during data transmission to the service.

Q:  How does 5o9’s approach differ from Cookies?

A:  While both approaches use small bits of text, the similarities end there.   Cookies cannot determine device capabilities or location data.  Cookies may be sent to multiple websites without your knowledge. You only know you have a cookie after-the-fact and deleting cookies can result in anything from increased data entry to rendering some websites useless. 5o9 metadata can provide user entered or device-obtained user, location and device capabilities data.  Metadata is only sent to authorized/approved websites and data selection may be customized for a particular use case or individually controlled by the user. Metadata may also be encrypted during transport to the Web server.
